Finnish company Jolla is all set to unveil ‘something BIG’ this Wednesday.
The company, formed by a group of former Nokia employees, has been spotted posting teasers on social networking websites including Facebook and Twitter which showcases a smartphone along with a tagline that reads, “The countdown to something big begins now.”
In addition, Jolla’s official website is also showing up a countdown timer to a mystery announcement at 11:00 GMT on 19 November.
Recent rumors suggest the mystery device could be a possible successor of first Jolla smartphone launched last year. Unfortunately apart from a zoomed-in image of the corner of the mysterious device, no more details of the device have emerged so far.
The tagline “Something BIG is about to begin” also hints that the yet-to-be revealed device could be a larger handset or even a tablet possibly with the newly introduced Sailfish Operating system on board.
Jolla’s first smartphone released in November last year featured a 4.5-inch IPS qHD display made from Gorilla 2 Glass, powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core processor in combination with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage (expandable via microSD card).
Camera wise, the phone featured an 8-megapixel camera on the rear and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. The device derived its power from a 2,100mAh battery. Connectivity features include LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
The device also utilized the company’s own Linus-based Sailfish operating system, which is capable of running Android applications via a proprietary capability layer.
Stay tuned for more updates on the mysterious device.
