Smartphone maker Jolla recently turned to crowdfunding platform Indiegogo to raise funding for its first tablet dubbed ‘the Jolla Tablet’ which will come with Sailfish OS 2.0 on board.
The tablet maker, which aimed to raise $380,000 from crowdfunding to put the Jolla Tablet into production, announced the tablet managed to reach its goal within just the first few hours. Exceeding expectations, the Jolla Tablet even broke the $1 million barrier in just two days.
All according to the campaign’s page on Indiegogo, the first 1000 Jolla Tablets were made available for just $189; the second 1000 tablets were priced at $199; while the third batch of around 2000 tablets were available for $204. Currently, there are still some tablets available for $209. The next set will be priced at $249 and so on.
As per the specifications are concerned, the Jolla Tablet features a 7.9-inch 2048×1536 pixels display with a density of 330ppi, and is powered by a 1.8GHz Intel quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM.
The tablet packs 5-megapixel camera, 2-megapixel front camera, 32GB internal storage, microSD card slot and 4,300mAh battery. The tablet will come running Jolla’s own open-source SailFish OS, which can run Android apps as well as native software.
Connectivity options on the tablet include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, and as mentioned above, it runs on Sailfish OS 2.0. The Jolla tablet sports dimensions of 203x137x8.3mm, and weighs 384 grams.
The Jolla Tablet is currently available in USA, EU, Norway, Switzerland, India, China, Hong Kong, Russia, Australia and Canada with a $20 shipping fee. The estimated delivery of the Jolla Tablet is listed as May 2015.
