UK carrier O2 has published a rather cheeky ad in a newspaper yesterday hinting at the release of the new iPhone 6 and possibility of the carrier being one of the first in the UK to sell the next iPhone(s).
“Our O2 Gurus can help you master your smart devices. Unless it’s the new _________, as its not out until __/__/____” read the ad with the name and the date redacted.
The ad [full sized image below] was spotted to The Verge’s Tom Warren who tweeted: “Cheeky iPhone 6 advert from @o2 in the newspaper today” with the photo of the newspaper advert to which O2 UK replied: “Really? What iPhone 6? Some random goings on today.”
Apple is expected to unveil its iPhone 6 – possibly two variants based on screen sizes – on September 9 and we expect atleast one variant i.e. the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 to go on sale as early as September 19. There have been rumours that Cupertino’s suppliers stumbled upon quite a few roadblocks as far as display was concerned and production of the new iPhone(s) was marred with delays.
However, reports did indicate that the company will start selling both the variants this year itself with the smaller iPhone 6 going on sale earlier followed by the 5.5-inch variant sometime in October. There were even reports of Apple culling the 32GB variant and introducing a 128GB iPhone 6 – a rumour which we consider with a fine grain of salt.
Alongside the iPhone 6, Apple is also expected to unveil its smarwatch, which many call iWatch and remaining sticking to a patent based terminology iTime, on September 9. However, reports indicate that the smartwatch won’t go on sale until early next year because of production issues and may carry a price tag of $400.
Some of the rumoured features of the iPhone 6 include NFC support, A8 processor, higher RAM compared to iPhone 5S among other things.
