With iPhone 6 allegedly scheduled for release this autumn, new rumours suggest that Apple might be hustling for the launch of iPad Air 2 later this year, if not alongside iPhone 6.
The company’s Asian suppliers are reportedly starting production for displays and other screen components for the iPad Air 2 this month, reports Korean Media. The report also claims that suppliers will start producing camera sensors and the A8 processor starting July.
The main features expected to be enhanced in the next version of iPad Air are the camera and the processor. Rumour has it that iPad Air 2 will sport an 8-megapixel rear camera and an upgraded front camera. It is also expected to pack an A8 chip for better power management and graphic performance.
Sources say that the device will come with the same screen resolution seen on iPad Air: a Retina-grade display offering a 2,048 x 1,536 resolution, in other words 264 pixels per inch, with LG Display, Samsung and Sharp being the suppliers.
As some of the recent iDevices tout a battery life of 10 hours, iPad Air 2 is expected to match the specifications or have a longer battery life as there is a fat chance for it with its battery friendly system on a chip model.
In retrospection of previous Apple rumours that the company will offer Touch ID with all of its devices from 2014, we can expect to see it on both iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2.
There is no mention about the design specifications of the iPad Air 2. With iWatch and Apple TV holding a lot of attention, Apple might give quite a lot of surprises in the coming months.
