Chinese jailbreak developer team Pangu has teased an iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak at the HackPwn 2015 suggesting that they have managed to successfully jailbreak the recently released iOS version.
The tease is evident from a post to Weibo by HackPwn2015. Though the translation of the Weibo post is crude, it indicates that the team has managed to jailbreak Apple’s iOS 8.4.1. We are not expecting the team to release the jailbreak considering that Apple is planning to release iOS 9. If Pangu releases a jailbreak for iOS 8.4.1, chances are Apple will fix the loopholes exploited by Pangu and patch them before releasing iOS 9.
From the images uploaded on the web, the team demonstrated the iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak on iPhone 6. Beyond the images, there is no real information about the actual jailbreak. One thing is clear that despite Apple patching quite a few vulnerabilities including the one used by the TaiG team for their untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 8.1.3-8.4, Pangu team has managed to find a few holes that have allowed them to jailbreak iOS 8.4.1.
Pangu team has a reputation that tells a lot about their capabilities. It was the first to jailbreak iOS 8 and it also released untethered tools for iOS 8-iOS 8.1 as well as iOS 7.1.x.
