Chinese developer group TaiG released iOS 8.3 jailbreak tool a couple of days back giving all those users on iOS 8.1.3 a breather by enabling them to update to iOS 8.3 and still have their devices jailbroken.
The iOS 8.3 jailbreak news spread on the internet like wildfire; however, there are few reasons why you may want to refrain from applying it on your iDevices just yet.
Cydia not supported
Though a jailbreak is definitely one thing that the jailbreaking community would like to see as soon as a new version of iOS comes out, there is an equally important tool that needs to be released for the new version – Cydia. TaiG released the iOS 8.3 jailbreak tool; however, they didn’t provide the information about the release to Jay Freeman (Saurik) – the developer of Cydia – in advance because of which Cydia isn’t supported on iOS 8.3. This means that even if you have got your iOS 8.3 device jailbroken, you won’t have a compatible Cydia to install your tweaks and utilities.
No Mac OS X app
TaiG has released the iOS 8.3 jailbreak tool for Windows users only and this means that if you are using a Mac, you are out of luck and may want to refrain from updating your iPhone / iPad / iTouch to iOS 8.3 just yet as you will lose your iOS 8.1.3 jailbreak. You may use a virtual machine to apply the jailbreak, but we recommend you refrain from opting for this strategy as your device may be rendered unstable.
Apple Music
If you are looking forward to Apple Music, iOS 8.3 users won’t be able to get it. This means that if you apply the update and jailbreak the device you won’t have any possibility of gaining access to Apple Music until iOS 8.4 is released and an iOS 8.4 jailbreak tool is released.
Tweaks, Utilities still not updated to support iOS 8.3
First and foremost, Cydia is yet to be updated because of which a number of basic things that are required to run tweaks and utilities on jailbroken devices are still not support on iOS 8.3. So even if you apply a jailbreak, you won’t be able to go ahead with installing utilities and tweaks for the lack of kernel patch for Cydia Substrate and other incompatibility issues.
