Apple’s iOS 7 was launched publicly on September 18 and in less than a week it was installed on over 200 million iDevices while managing to generate over 51 percent of U.S. and Canada iOS internet traffic.
According to a report by Chitika, iOS 7 is responsible for 51.8 percent of the iOS traffic as of September 25. If these figures are compared with iOS 6 launch, iOS 6 managed to garner only 47 percent traffic, while only 45.1 percent of the Android devices have Jelly Bean installed on them after 14 months of its release.
Apple made an announcement on Monday revealing that the software was downloaded on more than 200 million devices within 5 days after it was made available for users. Comparatively, in February, iOS 6 adoption crossed mid-80% area five months after its September 2012 release.
Released on July 9, 2012, Android’s Jelly bean has been installed on 45.1 percent of the Android devices by far. The figure showed an increase as compared to late July’s 40.5 percent, however, it is still far behind the adoption figures of iOS 7. Android Ice Cream Sandwich share has declined from 22.5 percent to 21.7 percent as compared to Gingerbread’s 33.1 percent to 30.7 percent in the same time frame.
