Chipmaker Intel has announced a new app dubbed “Easy Migration” that will allow Chromebook users to easily migrate their data and files to the Intel-based notebook.
The new Intel Easy Migration app will facilitate the transfer of contacts, documents, photos, videos and audio files directly from Windows PC and Android and iOS-powered smartphones, all the way to Intel-based Chromebooks.
The app is available for iOS, Android and Windows operating systems using which users can transfer contacts, documents, photos, videos and audio files from a Windows PC as well as Android and iOS-based smartphones to Intel-based Chromebooks. Users can also decide which files they want to transfer for custom migration.
The app offers users a choice of a Quick Migration setting, to transfer all the eligible files from the device, or a Custom Migration, to select specific files to move to the cloud.
Some of the other features of the new app include the ability to migrate local and Hotmail contacts to Google Contacts, photos and videos to Google+ Photos, the ability to pause and resume the migration process and real time Google Drive space consumption visibility. The amount of data that users can transfer over depends on the amount of space available on their Google account.
However, it is to be noted that the app only supports Chromebooks that run on Intel’s processors. Users can check the compatibility of their Chromebook for Intel’s Easy Migration app by installing a Chrome extension.
The free app is available for download in the Google Play store, the Apple iOS App store, and Intel’s Easy Migration web page for PC owners.
