Innovazion, an India-based IT firm, has developed a new anti-virus software dubbed “NaMo” named after the country’s new Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The company said the new NaMo antivirus software “dedicated to the son of Indian soil, Sh. Narendra Modi,” will protect PC users from various malware and virus attacks.
The current NaMo version offers just basic protection, while the soon to be released advance version will offer complete protection against different types of attacks. There’s a version for Apple’s Mac systems in the pipeline as well. The company also assured that the current software version will keep on receiving regular updates.
Innovazion CEO Abhishek Gagneja announcing the software said, “India is the third largest country globally in terms of Internet users. However, statistics show that only 13 per cent are using valid license of antivirus software and 30 per cent tend to re-install trial versions of same or other antivirus software.”
He further added that the remaining 57 percent of the systems running across the country either lack protection against virus or are using unknown protection software for their devices. It is only this segment of the population that NaMo anti-virus aims to target, Gagneja said.
Gagneja, however, made it clear that his company is in no way associated with any political party or its leaders. It’s just the company’s own way of congratulating the current government.
“By building this software, we wanted to … congratulate the current government. We also want to pass a message to the government that the nation has high expectations from them,” he said.
Founded in 2007, Innovazion currently has its presence with over 500 employees in 7 countries including India, the US, the UK, Germany, Canada, Romania, China and Singapore.
