Increasing preference and demand for tablets in private enterprises and education sector along with growing demand from laptop and smartphone users would boost up the Indian tablet market in the coming years according to a research carried out by TechSci.
India is among the fastest developing economies in the world and the demand for lightweight computing in the country has increased thanks to the rapidly changing and improving technology, flourishing service industry and increasing need for fast and easy networking.
According to TechSci Research report, ‘India Tablet PC Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2018′, the Indian tablet market is radically rising across the service industry and among small and medium businesses. Some of the Fortune 500 companies have already started using tablets to perform their routine tasks.
The report also reveals that the use of tablet PCs in various sectors is contributing to market growth and might push the Indian Tablet PC market to cross $ 2 billion revenues by 2013 end.
Apple Inc was the first to come up with the first Tablet PC (iPAD) at commercial level in 2010 and since then the company has set a distinct benchmark in the computing industry. Tablet PCs have been successful in gaining quick global response from all over the world.
In India, Samsung was the first to introduce tablet PCs targeting mainly the younger generation. Now tablet PCs have gained acceptance in all IT, education, retail, and food services market.
The Government of India is also taking various initiatives especially in the education sector to push the country’s tablet market launching tablets such as Sakshat, Aakash etc. The government will be eventually distributing tablets to more than 220 million students across the country to encourage the use of tablets in the education sector.
Research Director with TechSci, Karan Chechi, is of the opinion that the primary reasons behind increase in tablet PC adoption in India include extensive proliferation of 3G network coupled with selective availability of 4G networks complemented by huge Wi-Fi availability across the nation.
Rapid increase in tablet market has not only lured big brands like Sony, Apple, and Samsung to India, white-box tablets and local vendors have also made a name for themselves in the country. With stiff competition, tablet prices are going to come down further thereby increasing the gadgets penetration in India.
