The sub 7 inch tablet, or Phablet, as they are being referred to, is looking to be the device of choice for consumers at the moment and the manufacturers are all vying to get the biggest piece of the market. Samsung has a strong presence in this market with the Galaxy Note (along with the follow up Galaxy Note 2 and the forthcoming Galaxy Note 3) and of course the gorilla of the tablet market, Apple, have the downsized iPad, the iPad Mini. Sony also has the Xperia Z Ultra and LG the Optimus G2 in the phablet market.
There is however on company that has had considerable success in the smartphone market that has yet to venture into this new world. That is of course HTC. The rumor mill has however started turning with a rumor that HTC will enter this hot market.
Reports say that HTC will release the HTC One Max with a 6 inch screen in September. If the reports are to be believed it the new device will feature many of the additions available on the flagship HTC One. These are likely to include dual speakers using ‘Beats’ technology alongside an ultra high pixel camera that feature on the HTC One. Other possible specs include, 6 inch HD display, 1080 x 1920 resolution, 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 Processor, 2 GB of Ram and 64 GB of internal storage.
This is all very good news for consumers in the phablet market with a wider range of models and manufacturers to choose from than in the full sized tablet market.
