Recent report suggests that the HTC is working on Google’s next iteration of Nexus tablet, slated for a launch this year, proving the previous reports to be much more than just a rumour.
According to a new report from Android Police, supported with spec details and leaked photos, the next 8.9-inch Nexus tablet codenamed “Volantis” will soon turn into a reality.
Powered by an NVIDIA Logan 64-bit Tegra K1 processor, the next upcoming Google Nexus 9 tablet is expected to sport an 8.9-inch display with a resolution of 2,048 × 1,440 pixel. The device will pack 2GB RAM in addition to either 16 or 32GB of internal storage, 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, a 3-megapixel front camera and front-facing stereo speakers.
The tablet’s dimensions will be 226.3 x 151.9 x 7.9mm, and it will weigh 418g (Wi-Fi-only model) or 427g (with 4G LTE) and will apparently come in a zero gap aluminium construction.
The report suggests that the upcoming device will come with a retail price tag of around $399 for the 16GB model and $499 for the 32GB variant. Although there’s no word yet on the LTE model pricing, but it’s likely to cost a hefty $600.
The “Volantis” launch may likely accompany the speculated release of the Android Lollipop iteration at the Google I/O event this week. The device is expected to go on sale sometime during the fourth quarter of the year.
