HP is all set to re-enter the smartphone market and this time it will be through launch of not one, but two handsets.
According to reports HP is just days away if not weeks from launching two Android phablets – a 6-inch one and another 7-inch one and the company will most probably be targeting emerging markets including China and India. Considering the markets where the phablets will be launched, HP might play it safe by pricing them at somewhere in the $250 to $300 range.
There has been no official word from HP yet, but considering the decline in shipments of desktops the company will need to find alternative verticals to continue revenue generation. HP already has a comeback by launching multiple tablets including three Tegra powered tablets and smartphones / phablets is the next logical move.
HP hasn’t ruled out a re-entry into the smartphone segment and the company’s Senior Director, Yam Su Yin, has already revealed that HP was working on a unique smartphone.
