“On July 24, we’re asking you to capture your world on video”, announces the social media website YouTube.
Life In A Day is an experimental movie, the first in history that aims to document a day in the life of the entire planet. The executive producer is no less than Sir Ridley Scott, Kevin Macdonald whose feature films include the Academy Award Winning Last King of Scotland directs. Macdonald said that in putting together the different footages and creating the final movie, he plans to create a time capsule that shall show future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th of July 2010. In a video the director posted in YouTube, he describes the historic film as “A portrait of the world in a day” .
The movie will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January next year. The YouTube users whose footage make it to the final cut will be listed as co-directors of the film and 20 of them will be flown to Sundance for the movie’s premiere.
