Grand Theft Auto V has had a tremendous run so far with over $1 billion in sales in first three days, 15 million units in first three days, top grossing video game of all times, and now having sold more copies than its predecessor the GTA 4 has till today.
The latest version of cop-killing game was knocked off from the top gaming charts by FIFA 14, but that hasn’t stopped it from its successful run. The sales figures are courtesy of GfK Chart-Track that shows that GTA 5 has achieved the status of one of the 12 highest selling games of all times and one of the five most financially successful game so far, with revenue second to behind Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Grand Theft Auto V managed to grab top position on the chart for a week, but Fifa 14 dethroned the game and is currently the top grossing game for second week in a row. According to data from GfK the gap between both the games has narrowed down to just 31,000 units and FIFA 14 is catching up fast.
As the GTA V entered its third week, its sales have dropped by around 34 percent despite the fact that GTA Online hasn’t managed to rake in positive reviews after a barrage of issues that have spoilt the online gameplay experience of its users. If we compare the drop in sales of Fifa 14 with that of GTA V, it stands at a whopping 68 percent in second week.
Rockstar has made available title updates for both PS3 and Xbox 360 resolving almost all issues faced by online players.
