Rockstar has revealed that it expects Grand Theft Auto Online to be ‘temperamental’ for the first few days of the launch because of the fact that millions of users may be joining in to play the online version starting October 1.
Grand Theft Auto V managed to register sales in tune of $1 billion within the first three days of launch with over 1.57 million units sold in the UK alone. Considering the enthusiasm with which the game was received globally, Rockstar anticipates that “significantly higher number of players” will be logging onto GTA Online servers. The company revealed that it was working round the clock to add more and more servers in a bid to alleviate the pressure of next week’s launch.
Providing some details about GTA Online through a Newswire, Rockstar noted that it will focus on fine tuning the user experience during the first two weeks following the launch. The company revealed that during those two weeks it will try to get rid of all the usual teething problems that online games suffer from.
Rockstar notes, “We hope it will all run incredibly smoothly, but please bear with us if it doesn’t, and help us fix any and all problems!”
Users who have bought the official copy of Grand Theft Auto V will be granted free access to the online version. Rockstar has requested users to report their “experiences, findings, likes, loves, dislikes and hates” constantly so that it can “tune the game into its optimal shape.”
“We will be checking out how people are playing and what they are not playing or not enjoying, while also monitoring feedback via two other new Rockstar channels: GTAOnline@rockstargames.com & GTA Online Forums at Social Club” added Rockstar.
