Google and HTC are co-developing the next Nexus 10 variant, sources aware about the matter have revealed.
According to a report on the DigiTimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20140210PD201.html), Google and HTC have agreed to co-develop the next Nexus 10 after the one developed by Samsung didn’t manage to strike the right chords and garnered lackluster sales.
HTC has a history of turning down Google proposals for development of its tablets and the latest news comes as a surprise for not only that, but also for the fact that HTC hasn’t been successful in the tablet market itself. The y-inch HTC Flyer and 10-inch HTC Jetstream turned out to be disasters for the Taiwanese manufacturing giant so much so that the company completely shuttered its tablet ambitions.
Google on the other hand found immense success with the original Nexus 7 launched in 2012, but didn’t manage to garner impressive sales figures for the new Nexus 7 launched last year. Both the variants were developed by Asustek and according to reports Google is going to stick with Asustek for its rumoured Nexus 8 tablet this year as well.
However, Nexus 10 is a completely different ball game considering the bigger screen size and with low adoption rates for the initial version, sources claim that Google isn’t going to stick around with Samsung on the new Nexus 10 and will instead work with HTC.
