Google has updated Chrome web browser for iOS to add a host of new features including a new Material Design look, OS X Handoff support, iOS 8 optimizations and more.
The updated Chrome version 40.0.2214.61 is the latest Google app to debut the new Material Design aesthetic introduced in Android 5.0. Google describes the new Chrome design as featuring “bold graphics, fluid motion, and tactile surfaces.” The search giant has already rolled out Material Design updates for apps such as Google Maps, YouTube and Google Search.
The Chrome update also features support for Apple’s handoff feature, introduced in iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, which allows users to start a task on one device and swap to another one nearby. In this case, the Chrome iOS app supports “handoff from Chrome to your default browser on OS X,” allowing users to make a shift from Chrome on iOS to Safari or any other default browser on a Mac.
Other features include stability improvements and bug fixes, iOS 8 optimizations as well as support for large screen iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The updated Chrome for iOS is now available to download for free from the Apple iTunes App Store.
