Nexus 5 owners should soon start seeing a notification for Android 4.4.1 update on their handsets – probably within the next few days. The update brings with it improved camera app incorporating some fixes.
The Android 4.4.1 update brings with it improved camera performance wherein the camera app launch times have been reduced, faster autofocus, faster white balancing, less shutter lag, new progress bar when shooting HDR+ photo and improved colors and exposure.
The update was announced through a Google+ post, which focused on the HDR+ capabilities of the new and improved camera app. The update will allow users to capture great photos in challenging environments like low light situations, and “where there’s a large contrast of bright and dark portions of the scene”.
Further, after applying the update when a user presses the shutter button the Nexus 5 will “take a burst of shots in about 1/3 of a second, and apply computational photography to intelligently fuse images together”, rather than just one picture.
