We now have the specs for the highly anticipated new version of the Nexus 7 from Google at a breakfast launch event today.
The 7 inch table market is a very different place than it was a year ago when google introduced the, made by ASUS, Nexus 7. The 7 inch tablet was ahead of the market and was very well received, especially as it was also cheap at £159. Now there are other 7 inch devices on the market and Google will be looking to out perform the competition.
Sundar Pichai, President of Android and Chrome, demonstrated the new Nexus 7 running the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. The 7 inch screen has a 1200×1980 resolution. The processor is a 1.5GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core with 2GB of RAM. There is a 5MP camera on the rear and a 1.2MP onpredecessor the facing camera.
The device looks very much like its predecessor but it is 2mm thinner and 50g lighter and is black now not brown. The device also comes equipped with NFC or Near Field Communication technology.
It all looks very good. There is one thing missing however, that is a draw back when you only have 16 or 32GB of memory in the device to call on. There is no SD card reader or other way to gain more memory for the device.
It will be available in 16GB or 32GB memory sizes with prices of £199 and £239 respectively. The New Nexus 7 will be available to buy in the becoming weeks, with both Curry’s and PC World advertising the device for release on the 13 September.
