Google, in a recent update, has extended the Play Store refund window timeframe from 15 minutes to up to 2 hours.
Until now, Google offered users only 15 minutes time to return an app or game and get a refund, but now the window has been extended to up to 2 hours.
“After purchasing an app or game on Google Play, you can return it within two hours for a full refund,” Google’s ‘Return paid apps and games’ support page reads.
In order to get a refund, users will need to navigate to the My Apps section in the Google Play Store app, and then select the software that they wish to return, and finally tap on the “refund” option.
The support page further notes that if the 2-hour refund window has not yet passed, open and refund buttons will be displayed. However, if a refund button is not displayed it means the purchased app is no longer eligible for return. The Refund button will turn into Uninstall after the time expires.
The company also confirmed that once the 2-hour return period has passed, consumers will have to contact the app developer directly using the information listed on Google Play.
It is however to be noted that users cannot return an app or game more than once which means they will not be eligible to receive a second refund for the apps that are downloaded more than once.
