Recent reports suggest Google could roll out its next Nexus iteration dubbed ‘Nexus 6’ sometime later this month.
According to the Wall Street Journal report, citing three anonymous sources familiar with the matter, Google is all set to launch its next Nexus phone—code-named Shamu after a SeaWorld theme park killer whale- in October. As per the report, the new Nexus phone will be larger than Apple’s 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung’s 5.7-inch Galaxy Note.
The 5.9-inch phablet will be manufactured by Motorola’s phone division, which Google plans to sell to Lenovo, and will be sold under the Nexus brand name, the report noted.
Other leaks and rumors have suggested that the next generation Nexus device will feature a 5.92-inch screen, with QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 and pixel density of 498ppi. Powered by a Snapdragon 805 processor, the handset will boast 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage.
As far as camera is concerned, the report states that the device will come with a 13-megapixel rear with the ability to shoot 4K UHD video and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera that is identical to the one on the second generation Moto X.
Furthermore, the device is rumored to pack a 3,200mAh battery. It’s still however unclear whether the phone will come running on Google’s upcoming Android L or not.
Google is expected to release the new Android mobile operating system dubbed ‘Android L’ simultaneously.
