Following Google’s Dave Burke words “still invested in Nexus,” that squashed the rumours about the possible demise of Nexus line-up in favour of Android Silver, a new report claims that Nexus 6, a brand new Nexus iteration, is possibly in the making.
According to a report from Android Police, Google is currently working in collaboration with Motorola to develop a Nexus smartphone codenamed ‘Shamu.’ The report claims that the new Nexus smartphone will come with a 5.9-inch display along with a fingerprint sensor. However it’s unclear where the sensor will be placed.
The report states that the new phone is slated for a November launch, alongside the Android L launch.
Although other specs of the much –rumoured Nexus iteration still remains a mystery, Android Police claims that it is quite confident of Shamu being in an “active development” stage under both Motorola and Google.
The handset is expected to pack the latest Android OS, which could possibly be the yet-to-be-released Android L, either Snapdragon 801 or 805 series CPU to be coupled with Adreno 330/420 graphics engine, a high-capacity battery and a high-end primary camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilizers) feature.
Another report from PhoneArena, however claims that the rumoured handset might not be a Nexus iteration as all Nexus devices launched till date have had codenames of types of aquatic animals including mako, maguro/tuna, hammerhead, flounder, etc. while, on the other hand, Shamu being the name of a famous orca seems to be slightly outside of the norm.
However, experts believe that other than the rumoured 9-inch Nexus tablet codenamed Volantis from HTC, there is at least one more Nexus device slated for a release this year.
