Google on Tuesday rolled out an iOS version of its Hangout-based live video tutorial service, Helpouts.
Google Helpouts for iOS version 1.0.1 requires iOS 6 or higher and will be initially available only in the US, Australia, Canada, UK, Ireland, and New Zealand. The app is available for free on the App Store.
Google Helpouts, which was launched on the web and Android in November last year, let users connect with experts to get their problems solved through live video and real-time help from a computer or mobile devices.
Users can get expert assistance in different categories including Art & Music, Computers & Electronics, Cooking, Education & Careers, Fashion & Beauty, Fitness & Nutrition, Health and Home & Garden.
Google notes that the new Helpouts for iPhone or Android does not support creating new listings for topics, a feature currently limited only to the Helpouts website.
However, users will be able to choose experts based on their qualifications, availability, ratings and reviews and also manage sessions for a Helpout right away or schedule a Helpout for later.
If interested in learning about any topic, Helpout users can chat with the respective field experts who charge for the interactive session. Experts can charge users either per minute or per Helpout session, while some Helpouts are also available for free.
If a user schedules a session and ends up cancelling without 24 hours’ notice, some experts also charge a cancellation fee that can cost the users anywhere from 50 percent of the session rate or five times the per minute rate.
