Following the US Play Store, Google has finally made the Glass Explorer Edition available for purchase through the official UK Play Store.
The company had initially rolled out the Glass Explorer beta edition for sale in the UK via the Glass store that required users to sign up to purchase.
Glass has been listed on the Play Store with a hefty price tag of £1,000. The wearable was made available for purchase in the US Play Store last week with a price tag of $1,500, which approximately amounts to £930 based on current currency conversion rates. This means Glass will cost £70 more in the UK than in the US.
Glass sets currently ships with a 640×360 pixel resolution display, a 5-megapixel built-in camera unit with 720p video capture. The device offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and comes with 12GB usable memory synced with Google cloud storage.
The eyewear runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and pairs with compatible devices via the MyGlass app which works on any Android phone or tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 or later and on iOS devices including iPhone 4 and iPad 2 with iOS 7 or above.
As claimed by Google, the Glass frame, which comes with three sets of adjustable nose pads, will fit ‘any face.’
Available in 5 different colour options namely black (charcoal), orange (tangerine), white (cotton), brown (shale), and blue (sky), the Glass Explorer Edition will work perfectly with the 40 available apps in the Google Play Store. The device is expected to be shipped within two days.
