Google Glass Explorer Edition has finally made its way to the Google Play Store, with the same $1,500 price tag, just a few months after its launch in the UK.
The Glass, still in open beta, is available at the Play Store in 5 different colours – charcoal (black), tangerine (orange), cotton (white), shale (brown), and sky (blue).
The Google Play Store section also includes Frames, Shades, and Earbuds made specifically for Glass.
The company is currently offering a “free” shades or frames deal, and users upon purchase of the Glass will receive either shades or frames for free at checkout.
Frames are listed at $255 with or without your prescription, while shades will cost an extra $150. Earbuds that work exclusively with the Glass is also available for $85.
The wearable runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and will work with nearly 40 apps available on the Play Store. Google Glass features a 5-megapixel camera with 720p capability of shooting videos, 12GB of user-accessible memory, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth, and can be accessed through voice recognition.
Following its launch for Explorer Program, Google opened up the Glass for public sales, back in May, with users placing an order through Google Glass shop. However, this is also not likely the commercial launch the Google Play listing mentions it to be Explorer Edition.
Google Play Store also witnessed another important entry – recently launched Motorola’s Moto 360 smartwatch, available with gray “horween” leather and a silver metal rim or black leather and a black metal rim. The smartwatch comes with a price tag of $249.99, and is currently out of stock!
