Google has announced that its Google Checkout payment service will no longer be supported post November 20 and those who are using the service would be required to migrate to other solutions.
In a message posted on Google Checkout Merchant support page, Google notes “After November 20, 2013, Google Checkout will no longer be supported. If you process payments using Google Checkout, you will need to migrate to a new solution to avoid disruption to your business.”
May 20, 2013 was the last day of signup for Google Checkout and November 20 would be the last day on which merchants using Google Checkout will be able to charge orders. Google has noted that November 21 would be the last day to ship orders and staring November 27, all outstanding orders will be cancelled. Merchants will be allowed to process refunds till December 20.
The search engine giant has also noted that it will not be offering any alternative service or replacement to Google Checkout, but it has partnered with “three premier players in the payments industry” including Braintree, Shopify and Freshbooks and under the partnership Checkout users will be provided with discounts as well.
