Google on Tuesday announced it has added a slew of new apps to its streaming HDMI dongle Chromecast.
The update will see apps Showtime Anytime ad Starz Play as well as casual games like Wheel of Fortune, Just Dance Now, Emoji Party, Big Web Quiz, Simon Swipe, Connect Four Quads and Hasbro’s Monopoly Dash being added to Chromecast’s app line up. The games can be played on TV with users’ Android or iOS smartphones and tablets serving as the game controller.
Apps Showtime Anytime ad Starz Play both offer a wide variety of premium movies and TV shows.
“With Showtime Anytime you can catch up on past and current seasons of the network’s original series including Homeland and The Affair. With Starz Play, get your tartan on with the first season of Outlander, or have a marathon of Friday night flicks,” notes Google Chrome team blog post.
Gaming title Just Dance Now is a mobile version of the Kinect-based dancing game. The games uses the motion sensors on a mobile device to translate user’s body movements – with no need for extra controllers.
Big Web Quiz is a fun trivia game which leverages Google’s Knowledge Graph to generate a healthy stock of questions to burn through, while Emoji Party lets users play a guessing game involving translating the communication icons into famous movie titles.
Furthermore, the search giant has also added category tabs to the Chromecast apps page, making it easier for users to search for TV & Movies, Music & Audio, Games, Sports, Photos & Video, and more.
The new apps are available through the iOS App Store and Google Play.
