Following the footsteps of Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry, Britney Spears will soon be seen starring in her own mobile game.
Glu Mobile, developer of the popular app game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, on Wednesday announced it would be developing a mobile game featuring the popular singer Britney Spears, reported New York Post.
The publisher said it has signed a 5-year deal with Spears with the possibility of a 3-year extension. The Britney Spears game will feature an avatar of the singer with the same face and voice as her. The game will have Britney’s “creative influence” too. It will be launched in the first half of 2016.
“People like Britney Spears obviously have been successful for more than a decade. They have brand recognition and social following everywhere: not just developed nations but also emerging markets,” said Glu’s chief executive
Niccolo de Masi in his company’s earnings call for its latest financial results.
“We can use our partnership with her to expand not only amongst the casual demographic, but also to try and bring new people into gaming that have never played a game before.”
Separately, Glu also announced that online game and social media operator Tencent Holdings of China will buy 21 million of its shares for $6 each, or $126 million. The investment will give Tencent a 14.6-percent stake in Glu, making it the company’s largest shareholder.
