UK mobile operator GiffGaff has finally climbed the 4G bandwagon offering 4G bundles to new and existing customers starting at £12 per month.
The O2-owned MVNO is offering 4G monthly contract deals, called “goodybags” starting at £12 for 500 minutes of calls, unlimited texts and 1GB of Internet use. The £15 per month deal will offer users with 3GB of Internet, 500 minutes and unlimited text messages, while the third option costing £18 per month will get users 1,000 minutes, 5GB of data allowance and and unlimited texts.
The mobile operator has confirmed existing customers will be allowed to upgrade from 3G to 4G for no additional cost, as long as they have joined before 29 October. They will be offered 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of data for £10 per month, rising to £15 per month for double the amount of minutes and 5GB of data.
The only feature which makes GiffGaff 4G deals different from others is that there are no-strings-attached with the operator’s monthly goodybag deal – meaning users aren’t tied to the network or to a deal, they can easily upgrade and downgrade their goodybag, or drop GiffGaff altogether, at any time.
For using GiffGaff’s 4G plans, users will need to ensure that their smartphone should be capable of accessing the 800MHz LTE band, which usually most modern devices do.
