Fitbit on Monday, unveiled three new fitness tracking devices dubbed ‘Fitbit Charge’, ‘Fitbit Charge HR’ and ‘Fitbit Surge’ scheduled to get released over the coming months.
Priced at $130, the new Fitbit Charge wristband, a new version of last year’s Force, will allow users to track steps, distance, calories burned and floors climbed. The low-end fitness tracker uses motion analysis to understand user’s sleep patterns as well.
It features an OLED display and includes automatic sleep detection, real-time fitness statistics and a caller ID function. The company claims Fitbit Charge offers a battery life of up to seven days, and it’s water-resistant too.
In addition to the same Fitbit Charge’s features, the new Fitness Charge HR wristband allows for continuous and automatic wrist-based heart rate monitoring via Fitbit’s own built-in optical pulse tracking technology. The Charge HR is said to last five days on a single charge. The $150 Fitbit Charge HR will be available in the US from early 2015 in black, plum, blue, and tangerine colors.
The most expensive of the three is the Fitbit Surge, which includes GPS tracking to measure pace, distance, elevation, split times and route history during a wearer’s workout.
The tracker features eight sensors including 3-axis accelerometers, 3-axis gyroscope, digital compass, optical heart rate, monitor, altimeter, ambient light sensor and a touchscreen. The device is said to last seven days on a single charge. The black version of the Surge will be available in “early 2015? for $250, with blue and tangerine colors to follow later.
“Our mission has always been to deliver innovation through exceptional, wearable design in a way that empowers consumers with greater knowledge of their overall health,” said Fitbit CEO James Park in a statement.
“With the addition of these new products, Fitbit offers the widest variety of trackers — at affordable prices across all mobile platforms — ensuring that everyone can find the right fit for their lifestyle and their goals,” Park added.
