Fitbit has confirmed that its latest fitness tracking bands -the Fitbit Surge and Fitbit Charge HR- are now available for sale in the UK.
To recap, the £120 Charge HR enables users to track steps, distance, calories burned and floors climbed. The fitness tracker uses motion analysis to understand user’s sleep patterns as well. The tracker allows for continuous and automatic wrist-based heart rate monitoring via Fitbit’s own built-in optical pulse tracking technology. The Charge HR is said to last five days on a single charge.
The higher-end £200 Fitbit Surge includes GPS tracking to measure pace, distance, elevation, split times and route history during a wearer’s workout. The tracker features eight sensors including 3-axis accelerometers, 3-axis gyroscope, digital compass, optical heart rate, monitor, altimeter, ambient light sensor and a touchscreen.
Fitbit Surge users will be able to see who is contacting them on their mobile and control the music being played through their smartphone. The device is said to last seven days on a single charge.
The Charge HR and Surge both are available in black, blue, and tangerine color options, while the HR can also be had in plum.
Announcing the launch, Gareth Jones, the VP and General Manager for Fitbit, said in a press statement, “At Fitbit we know that there’s no one size fits all option in fitness, as consumers have a wide-range of needs and preferences. To that end, we’ve developed these new products to take users from everyday fitness to active and performance sports use. We are excited to introduce Fitbit Charge HR and Fitbit Surge to the European market, providing motivation and encouragement for those who are dedicated to reaching higher levels of performance.”
