Mozilla has announced Firefox 27 for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android operating systems with features such as simultaneous Social API notifications, SPDY3.1 support, and more language options on Android.
Support for Google’s SPDY 3.1 protocol and Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.2 are the major features that have been added to Firefox’s networking arsenal.
Firefox 27 features a major update to the browser’s Social API, which allows multiple social integration partners to send notifications simultaneously. The Firefox Social API now includes support for Delicious, the old-school Web 2.0 social bookmarking tool and Saavn, the Indian music service.
While the former tool lets users share links to their Delicious network from anywhere on the Web, the latter, which is a popular music player in India, allows an easy access to regional top songs, popular playlists, newest album releases and popular radio stations.
On Firefox’s Android version, no new major features apart from TLS support have been added this time. The mobile version now also feature readable default font and a few minor user interface improvements. Lithuanian, Slovenian, South African English, and Thai locales have been added to the new browser version.
Firefox 27 is available for download right now from Firefox.com and existing users will be able to upgrade to the new version automatically. The upgraded Android version of the browser has been made available on Google Play.
