Facebook on Wednesday announced launch of a new video feature dubbed “Say Thanks” which will let users create and send personalised video cards to their family and friends.
Using the new video feature users will be able to choose a theme, edit a selection of photos together as well as add a personalised message to their video cards which will be posted on theirs and their friend’s timelines.
“Today we’re excited to announce Say Thanks, an experience that lets you create personalized video cards for your friends on Facebook. Share a Say Thanks video with a close friend, your significant other, a relative, a coworker, an old friend – or anyone else in your life who you’d like to celebrate. There is no limit to how many personalized videos you can create and share,” Facebook noted in an official statement.
To get started, you will need to visit http://facebook.com/thanks and select a friend or family member you want to thank to generate a preview of the video. You can then choose from four different themes- “old friends,” “friends”, “complicated” or “family” and edit photos and posts that appear in the video.
Once satisfied, you can add a personalised message to the video before sharing it. On clicking the ‘Share’ button, the video will get posted on your own timeline as well as your friend’s timeline.
Facebook has confirmed the service is being rolled out on desktop and mobile in English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish languages starting Wednesday.
The launch of the new video feature follows February roll out of the popular “A Look Back” video tool that allowed users to create videos which flashed through people’s lives on Facebook, featuring 15 most liked photos, status updates and life events.
The social networking giant claimed more than 200 million people across the world created Look Back videos in the first month of the launch.
