Facebook on Tuesday rolled out a new feature dubbed ‘Scrapbook’, which will let parents organize and share photos of their kids on the social network.
Using the new Scrapbook feature parents can easily create photo albums of their offspring and tag them in order to share the pictures with their friends and relatives. Parents can tag kids in the pictures with the name they wish to; it could be the kids’ real name, initials or even their nicknames.
Parents will have an option to co-own a Scrapbook. This will make it easier for them to jointly organize pictures of their children. The privacy settings for Scrapbook are the same for any Album on Facebook. Parents can opt to share it publicly, limit to friends, or keep it private.
In order to create a Scrapbook, parents can go to their profile, click on About and click on Family and Relationships. There, they will find an invitation to create a scrapbook. If in case profile of the child has already been created, parents just need to click Add Scrapbook next to the child’s name.
“We’re starting to pilot an optional way for you to organise photos of your child, using a special tag you choose to create,” Facebook Product Manager, Dan Barak noted announcing the feature.
“If you choose to tag your child in a photo it will be added to a customisable scrapbook. And, photos you choose to tag can be shared with your friends and your partner’s friends.”
The scrapbook feature is currently available in the United States on Facebook for desktop, Android and iPhone.
