PlayStation Network seems to be at the receiving end of a barrage of ‘suspicious activity’ as just days after Sony reset passwords of some of its PSN users in Europe, it has done so for its US users as well.
Sony has been extra cautious after a major 2011 hack that exposed details of millions of PSN users including their credit card and personal details. Having beefed up its security measures and precautionary steps, it seems that Sony has been resetting passwords to avert a 2011-like hack.
North American users started reporting that they are not able to logon to their PSN account due to ‘incorrect’ password errors. Sony revealed through a post on its US forums that uses getting password errors should reset their passwords.

“If you are getting an error that your PSN account password is incorrect, you may need to reset it”, said Sony.
“We routinely monitor for irregular activity, and if such activity is detected, we may sometimes reset passwords of affected SEN accounts to protect consumers and their account information”, added the PlayStation 4 maker.
Users in possession of their email address and date of birth should be able to reset the passwords themselves; however, those who do not have one or both of them should contact Sony for further assistance reads the post.
