UK mobile operator EE has announced it is extending the popular Power Bar scheme to next month’s Glastonbury festival.
Launched earlier this year, the Power Bar lets users charge their phone on the go and, once the Power Bar’s juice runs out, owners can swap their Bar for a fully charged one at any designated EE outlet free of charge.
EE said it will have two ‘Power Bar Exchange’ points at Glastonbury Festival, which runs from June 24 – 28 this year, to allow festival goers to swap an empty EE Power Bar for a fully charged replacement. The UK mobile operator said it will be able to facilitate in excess of 200,000 Power Bar swaps at the festival.
Anyone who wants to take advantage of the swapping scheme must already own an official EE Power Bar and register for a special wristband by June 7. This band will entitle the owner to one swap per day of the festival. While Power Bars are free for EE, Orange and T-Mobile customers, other network users will have to pay £20 to join the scheme.
EE will also have the EE Recharge tent on the festival site to offer free mobile phone recharges to those without a Power Bar.
