EE on Thursday has rolled out its 4G network service to 13 new towns, bringing the total coverage to three-quarters of the UK, as it moves forward in its goal to serve 98 percent of the country by this year.
The latest towns to be added to the EE coverage list include Buckingham, Burntwood, Chesham, Chesterfield, Dalkeith, Glossop, Hertford, Rugeley, Sheerness, Thornaby-on-Tees, Ware, Wickford and Witney.
With the addition of 13 towns including the Prime Minister David Cameron’s constituency of Witney, Oxfordshire, EE will be serving another 300,000 people with access to superfast network.
EE’s 4G network is available in around 268 major towns and cities along with over 2,500 villages and small towns.
Olaf Swantee, EE CEO, said that in the roll out of 4G network across UK, reaching the 75 percent milestone was a key staging post, as he highlighted that businesses and communities are demanding 4G coverage increasingly for its significant economic benefits.
He added that the company will continue with the fast, nationwide roll out with “hundreds of new sites being switched on every month,” in an effort to bring 4G to more places and give customers “a fast broadband experience for the very first time.”
David Cameron, Prime Minister and MP for Witney, welcoming EE’s rollout, claimed the 4G services to be a huge boost for local companies as well as residents of Witney. He stressed that Witney is now an even more attractive area to live, to work and to do business, with the arrival of 4G network, as it makes “this part of Oxfordshire one of the best connected areas in the UK.”
