Ebola is the most searched topic on Yahoo for the current year, a new report has claimed. The topic has managed to outdo all celebrities and gadgets to win for itself the title of ‘most searched topic’ on Yahoo for the year 2014.
Yahoo revealing its Year in Review for 2014, where the deadly disease emerged as the most-searched item of the year, while Minecraft, a popular video game whose developer was bought by Microsoft, ranked 2nd.
Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lawrence, Kaley Cuoco, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Aniston too made it in the top list with Disney’s ‘Frozen’ ranked at No. 7 and Apple’s iPhone 6 at the No. 9 spot.
The company said that iPhone had been among the most-searched terms on Yahoo in four of the past five years. Meanwhile, since November, Yahoo has displaced Google to become the default search engine for Firefox, and now owns around 13 percent of the desktop browser market according to Net Applications.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer said in a blog post at the time that “the partnership would help them to expand their reach in search and give an opportunity to work even more closely with Mozilla to find ways to innovate in search, communications and digital content.”
People also used Yahoo to keep well informed on the latest news and had searched for information on the death of Robin Williams, the 2014 elections, the leaked photos of popular celebrities, the loss of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Mo.
