Online auction site eBay was down for thousands across UK and Europe yesterday making it the tenth time for the auction house and while the issue was resolved in the latter part of the day, sellers are voicing their frustration with some even demanding compensation.
The downtime lasted from early morning yesterday until mid-afternoon and it was reportedly the longest downtime for the online auction site with no official communication as to what had caused the downtime.
“Today’s outage marks the largest outage for Ebay users in the UK for this year, both in terms of duration of the problems and the number of users that are impacted,” said Tom Sanders, co-founder of Downdetector.co.uk.
eBay did issue a statement that they were investigating reports of downtime. “We are investigating reports that certain eBay features are intermittently unavailable or slow and we apologise for any inconvenience caused,” eBay had said yesterday.
This was followed by another statement wherein eBay said that it was aware of the issue and that it was doing all it can to “investigate this issue including reviewing third party internet service provider access issues” and working hard to bring things back in order.
eBay said that it wasn’t in a position to provide the cause of the downtime and didn’t want to speculate on it either.
