The March 20 solar eclipse was one of the best celestial events this year and few lucky ones had an opportunity of a lifetime to view the full eclipse at 37,000 feet above ground while flying on an EasyJet flight to Reykjavik in Iceland.
Total solar eclipse was only visible from Faroe Islands and Svalbard, but passengers onboard three different flights EZY 1805, EZY 2295, that departed from Manchester and EZY 6747 that departed from Belfast flew nearly directly over the Faroe Islands in time for the full eclipse.
The possibility that passengers aboard these flights will be able to view the full eclipse was already announced by EasyJet a day prior to the flights. “It’s great that easyJet passengers will be in the right place at the right time on Friday and are set to be rewarded the best view anywhere in the world from 37,000 feet”, the airliner had announced in a press release.
One EasyJet staffer captured an image of the eclipse in action from the flight deck of EasyJet’s service EZY 6747, which was flying from Belfast to Reykjavik. EasyJet confirmed that the photograph was genuine.
