A week after the appointment of Andrew Wilson as EA’s CEO, the company is all set for an executive reshuffle.
The leaked internal memo, which Venture Beat obtained, points to a company-wide executive reshuffle wherein Patrick Soderlund, EA Games executive vice president, will continue to hold the current position and will also become head of EA Sports, the position which was earlier handled by Andrew Wilson, the present CEO.
Peter Moore apart from retaining his current responsibilities and position in Global Publishing and Marketing will also head EA’s Worldwide Customer Experience and Global Media Solutions teams. It’s not clear if Moore still remains the COO, though. Maxis head Lucy Bradshaw will now be directly reporting Wilson and has been included in Wilson’s management team.
Frank Gibeau, EA Labels president, will head EA’s digital distribution service Origin along with the firm’s mobile division. EA is yet to publicly announce the reshuffling, but it seems like there will be no major demotions or departures from the company.
As noted in the leaked memo, Wilson while addressing EA employees at company-wide “town hall” meeting, said “Our priorities right now are simple” and “we must deliver on our FY14 plan, continue the transformation of our organization for our digital future, create amazing games and services, have a ruthless focus and execute”.
In related EA news it has emerged that the company was paid off by Apple with ‘truck loads’ of money to delay the launch of Android version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. The information was with EA employees by Frank Gibeau during an internal meeting. Both Apple and EA have denied any such arrangement.
