Knack is now available on pre-order through Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) Store; however, there seems to be a lock on the game that will restrict the gameplay to the purchasing account.
Digging deeper into the description of the game, one would notice that there is a small print regarding the number of accounts through which the game can be played. “One-time license fee for play on purchasing account’s designated, primary PS4™ system and other PS4™ systems when signed in with purchasing account.”
This implies that you won’t be able to share games with their friends and family up until they use your account to play the game. You will be able to play the game on any PlayStation 4 as long as you are signed in using the purchasing account.
Those looking to buy multiple PlayStation 4s in a single household for different family members may want to think on their strategy of using multiple accounts as they won’t be able to share the games. It seems that Sony has taken a page from Xbox 360 regarding this bit.
If the purchasing account holder designates a PS4 as the primary PS4 for his/her account, that PS4 is the “family” console and any account can play the primary account holder’s games. If you have a PS4 other than the designated primary one, the games are only playable on the purchasing account holders account.
Sounds! Fair to me, bravo sony!
I really don’t see why this is such a big deal. My fiance and I purchase mostly disc based games…so we fully expect to purchase 2 copies of every game that we intend to play together. I don’t see why people who purchase digital games should expect that purchasing one copy of a game is ok if they intend to have multiple people playing at once. It has also been confirmed that an account holders primary PS4 console will let all users on that console have access to any games downloaded to that console as well as sub users being able to play online multiplayer if the primary account holder has PS plus. This is not a big deal. It’s actually pretty great that sub users are afforded all the features and games that the primary user has purchased.
