Datawind, the Aakash tablet maker, on Wednesday launched its new affordable range of tablets including the UbiSlate 7Cx, UbiSlate 3G7 and UbiSlate 9Ci models in India starting from Rs 3,999 ($65/€48).
The ‘UbiSlate 7Cx’ is the company’s cheapest model with 7-inch touch-enabled display, a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, RAM of 512MB, and 2GB of storage allowing internet access with a regular SIM. The UbiSlate 3G7 will come with a 7-inch touch screen display, a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage with two cameras, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and 3G connectivity. The UbiSlate 9Ci tablet (pictured above) comes with a larger screen of 9-inches, powered by 1GHz Cortex A9 processor, with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage.
While the UbiSlate 3G7 will run on Android 4.1 OS, the other models including The UbiSlate 7Cx and the UbiSlate 9Ci will run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 OS. The company has launched UbiSlate 7Cx at a price of Rs 3,999 / $65 / €48, the UbiSlate 3G7 for Rs 6,999 / $113 / €84and the UbiSlate 9Ci for Rs 4,999 / $81 / €60.
Suneet Singh Tuli, President & CEO DataWind, said, “Despite the recent drop in value of the Indian rupee, we have held strong and not increased pricing of our products, and instead, now are introducing new products with breakthrough pricing”.
