CyanogenMod 10.2 stable is now available for download for anyone who can’t handle the stock Android or the one provided by the vendors with their custom UI on top. CyanogenMod 10.2 release marks the end of Android 4.3 era and the team will now shift its attention to Android 4.4 KitKat based CyanogenMod 11.
“With the release of CM 10.2.0 we end our foray into Android 4.3-land and planned releases based on that code”, read the release announcement. The team will continue to provide support for the version including hot fixes and security patches. This also means that there will be no nightly builds based on Android Ice Cream Sandwich as the team will be concentrating and putting in more resources towards CyanogenMod 11.
“We’ll soon be retiring the ICS branches from the nightly rotation. There are less and less changes going into that branch, and with CM 11 nightlies on the horizon, it makes more sense to task the buildbots to actively changing branches instead (ie 10.0 and above)”, the release announcement noted.
CyanogenMod 10.2 stable will be available for all those devices for which an RC1 was released. This means that Google Nexus 4, HTC One and One X, Samsung Galaxy S and Captivate, and Acer Iconia Tab A7000 will be the first ones to receive the stable version. Builds for the other devices will follow soon.
Version 10.2 comes with a new feature dubbed Privacy Guard that enables user access to App ops using which they can control each and every permission that the app might request including access to network, access to users’ location, or sending or receiving SMS.
