CyanogenMod team has released the stable version of CM 10.1.3 and it includes support for the Android Device Manager-like CM Accounts with remote find and wipe features.
Release of CyanogenMod 10.1.3 marks the end of development of CM 10.1, which is based on Android 4.2. The team will now concentrate on development of CyanogenMod 10.2, which is based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
CyanogenMod 10.1.3 release candidates were announced back in August with the last release candidate announced in the second week of September, which included the much awaited remote find and wipe features. CyanogenMod team has claimed that CM Account feature is a more secure alternative than Google’s Android Device Manager as its servers don’t hold any data as they only act as relay for encrypted information transfer between the phone and a user’s browser.
To back the claims, Chris Soyars noted at the time, “The server-specific salt is not stored in the database. In this event, it would be practically impossible for someone to obtain your password, unless they know the server salt.”
CyanogenMod has witnessed a lot of events lately – some of the important ones being announcement of a company formation, partnership with Oppo and announcement of first smartphone officially powered by CyanogenMod, the Opp N1.
