Google Chromecast may finally be heading to UK shores with a launch date of March 1, new reports have claimed.
According to The Next Web, UK electronics retailer Currys will tentatively start selling the streaming dongle from March 1 and Google has confirmed the same.
The streaming dongle allows users to view apps such as Netflix, YouTube, VEVO, HBO GO and Google Play Movies on their TV.
Just a couple of days back Google opened Chromecast Software Development Kit (SDK) to all developers enabling them to create their own applications for the streaming media stick.
UK will be the first market outside of the US where Chromecast will launch; however, no pricing details have been made available. Further, there is no information whether other retailers will offer Chromecast or not.
Back in October last year, Chromecast was listed as available on preorder on Amazon UK with a price tag of £59.99 – three times its price in the US. This could have been an error or a snafu, so we will wait until the official pricing is announced.
