UK mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse has teamed up with mobile performance measurement firm RootMetrics to inform consumers of the best network coverage in their area.
As part of the deal, Carphone Warehouse will use data collected by RootMetrics, including data collected through the CoverageMap App, which combines millions of scientific tests and crowd-sourced samples to offer localised views on UK network performance, to give customers an idea of how well the four major networks – EE, O2, Vodafone and Three – are performing in their area. The information will be provided independent of the networks themselves.
Graham Stapleton, CEO for UK and Ireland at Carphone Warehouse, said “Customers are becoming increasingly more demanding about the quality of their network.
“In fact, network reliability was cited by 47 per cent of customers as the most important factor when choosing a mobile operator in the recent Enders Analysis UK mobile user survey.”
“At Carphone Warehouse, we are extremely proud of our reputation for helping customers to select the perfect deal for them. By working with RootMetrics we are taking affirmative action to give our customers even more in depth analysis, allowing them to make a smarter comparison of the networks before making a choice.”
Bill Moore, CEO and president of RootMetrics, added “This is an important alliance that plays to both companies’ strengths. With mobile phone contracts lasting anywhere up to 24 months, choosing the right provider cannot be taken lightly. RootMetrics casts an independent light on the true mobile performance of the UK networks, and, by providing our data directly to Carphone Warehouse customers on the spot, they will be able to make more informed decisions on their mobile provider. “
