Black Friday not only brought a whole lot of smiles on customers’ faces, but was also responsible for a few ups and downs on the weekly UK gaming charts where Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare managed to knock Grand Theft Auto V off its top spot to reclaim the ace spot in UK all formats chart.
Thanks for a whopping 110 per cent increase in sales over last week, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare from Activision Blizzard switched places with GTA V which saw a 64 per cent decline in sales over last week.
Black Friday saw increased sales of CoD: AW for Xbox 360 and PS3 as compared to XBO and PS4. Sales of CoD for previous-gen consoles accounted for 67 per cent of total sales notes Gfk Chart-Track.
“Sales of ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ this week are the largest ever for any title in a Black Friday week”, adds Gfk Chart-Track.
FIFA 15 was another gainer this week with 84 per cent increase in week-on-week sales, which switched places with Ubisoft’s Far Cry 4, which saw a 54 per cent decline in sales over last week.
With the top five spots locked out by previously released games, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire had to suffice with sixth and seventh spot respectively. One of the reasons that they had to debut below top 5 spots is that Chart-Track considers them as two different titles. If they would have been considered as one title, they would have been able to debut at number three position.
Black Friday has also been responsible for huge increase in sales of other titles including Sony’s ‘Driveclub’, which saw off the charts increase with a whopping 999 per cent increase in sales over last week. This crazy increase is because of the massive sales of PS4 Black Friday deals.
Other titles including ‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ (353 per cent increase), ‘Minecraft: Xbox Edition’ (184 per cent increase), ‘Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor’ (128 per cent increase), and ‘Disney Infinity 2.0’ (140 per cent increase) also found themselves scaling the heights of UK all formats chart.
