Box, one of the leading cloud storage service companies, has started rolling out its new document preview tool from Monday. The company had earlier unveiled its new Preview feature at its annual customer conference held in September.
The new preview feature will connect HTML5 technology with display documents across any device giving users “more control” over their files. The new tool will allow users to quickly browse through their files in an efficient manner and it incorporates functionality from Crocodoc, which was acquired by Box in May.
“The new, content-focused design leverages HTML5 technology to provide a ton of usability improvements, and lays the groundwork to making Box preview the best content experience on the web,” said Jay Patel from Box.
The new preview focuses more on the main document, said Patel. Share, download, and edit features will now be grouped and located in a simplified header, with all other actions been relocated to the “more” menu or removed altogether. Comments and tasks, which were previously nowhere to be seen in the main document window, will now feature in the sidebar. The new preview will also let users run full text search and copy-paste right from the browser itself.
“We listened to your feedback to determine the mission-critical context you need around your files, and then brought that info to the forefront (eliminating everything else),” he added.
“Over the following quarters, we’ll continue to explore ways to improve with the goal of providing you the best content viewing experience in the world,” Patel said.
The new preview will be rolled out to all Box users over the coming few weeks.
